Amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the country, Nirma University celebrates 74th Independence Day. Abiding by the COVID-19 rules laid down by the Government of India, the university celebrated this day with a small group comprising of Director General, Executive Registrar and Head of Institutes.
Institute of Commerce, Nirma University, was the host of the event. The Chief Guest of the function was Dr Anup K Singh, Director General, Nirma University.
Addressing the small gathering, Dr Singh said that we are going to complete almost 74 years and three generations have taken place after independence, and now a new India is about to be born. The nation has announced its New Education Policy (NEP) which will propel India into a leadership position further. Various industrial policies are being implemented to open the economy while ensuring social equity and inclusiveness.
Prof Udai Paliwal, Dean, Institute of Commerce said that the ongoing pandemic has provided a host of opportunities to the country. Government introduced welfare schemes like Atmanirbhar Bharat and other for the upliftment of the society. He is also expecting a change in the education landscape with the introduction of the NEP.
The people gathered at the university followed the social distancing norms and wore masks during the entire event.
The programme was organised by the Students Welfare Board’s Officer In-charge and Chief Co-ordinator.
