National level webinar on “Digitisation for building business continuity and resilience during and after Covid-19”

The Institute of Commerce, Nirma University (ICNU) organised its first ever national webinar on the topic “Digitisation for building business continuity and resilience during and after Covid-19” on May 27, 2020 from 11.00 am to 12.00 noon. The Institute welcomed the esteemed guest of honor Mr Nehal Vora, MD & CEO, Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL). Mr Vora had 23 years of regulatory experience at SEBI, BSE and DSP Merrill Lynch Ltd before joining CDSL. It was an ineffable moment to have him with us.

Around 250 participants registered for the webinar. Out of which 140 participants were present during the webinar. The participants registered for the event belonged to different states of the country majorly covering north-eastern states. A good number of entries were also received from the countries like Mauritius, South Africa, Namibia, Rwanda and Netherlands.

The provided event kicked at 11.00 am sharp through zoom webinar mode in a dignified presence of prominent faculties, UG/PG students, PhD students and industrialist across the country and abroad. The proceedings of the webinar were inaugurated with the heartfelt welcome address to the guest and participants by Prof Udai Paliwal, Dean, Institute of Commerce, Nirma University followed by the guest speaker’s speech.

Mr. Vora in his session highlighted the role of digitization for the business world and how it is giving the benefits not only to the business entities but also to the individuals. He also described the working of CSDL and how an individual can be benefited. He also addressed the pros and cons of Digitisation in Indian Capital Markets and explained the role and working of CDSL through a well-constructed PPT. In the end, Mr. Vora shared his experiences at CDSL and answered the questions of participants with utmost sincerity.

The session was very informative and everyone appreciated it. The session ended by CS Karishma Butani with a vote of thanks to our esteemed guest and participants.

A feedback form at the end was sent to the participants to help us to improve future events and an e-certificate was provided to all those who participated in the webinar.
