The Institute of Commerce, Nirma University (ICNU) organised its first ever international webinar on the topic “Accounting Education and Accounting Profession: Post COVID 19” on Saturday, June 06, 2020 from 05.30 pm to 07.00 pm The Institute welcomed the esteemed guest of honors “Prof Rajendra P. Srivastava and Prof Jaco P. Fouche”. Dr Rajendra is a Professor Emeritus of Accounting & Information Systems, School of Business, University of Kansas, Lawrence, USA and Dr Jaco is a Professor of Accounting & Finance, North West University, South Africa.
Around 250 participants from all over the country and abroad registered for the webinar. Out of which 232 participants were present during the webinar.
The webinar started at 05.30 pm sharp through zoom webinar mode in dignified presence of prominent faculties and UG/PG/PhD students across the country and abroad. The proceedings of the webinar were inaugurated with the warm welcome address to the guest and participants by Prof Udai Paliwal, Dean, Institute of Commerce, Nirma University followed by the guest speaker- speeches and views on the webinar by Prof G. Soral.
Prof Rajendra and Prof Jaco in their sessions highlighted about the effect of COVID 19 on accounting education and profession through a well-constructed PPT. As the pandemic increases in both magnitude and duration, entities are experiencing conditions often associated with a general economic downturn. The continuation of this pandemic could result in an even broader economic downturn which could have a prolonged negative impact on an entity’s financial results. Many companies are being forced to address the impact on their businesses, including accounting and financial reporting implications.
Following the speech, there was a wonderful interactive session through chat box where the participants interacted clarifying their doubts and asking interesting questions. Prof Rajendra and Prof Jaco resolved the queries and answered the questions of participants with utmost sincerity.
The session was very informative and everyone appreciated it. The session ended by CS Karishma Butani with a vote of thanks to our esteemed guest and participants.
A feedback form at the end was sent to the participants to help improve future events and an e-certificate was provided to all those who participated in the webinar.
