Cancer Awareness Seminar at Institute of Commerce Inspires Prevention, Early Detection and Hope

The Women Development Cell (WDC) of the Institute of Commerce, Nirma University, under the Saarthi (Holistic Wellness) Initiative, in association with Shalby Hospitals, organized a Cancer Awareness Seminar with a special focus on Blood Cancer and Breast Cancer. The seminar attended by university staff, faculty, and students reflected the community’s commitment to health awareness and preventive care.

The expert session was led by Dr. Viraj Lavingia, Director, Shalby Cancer Research Institute and Senior Medical Oncologist, along with Dr. Hirak Vyas, Consultant–Radiation Oncology. The speakers emphasized that effective cancer prevention begins with Control over lifestyle choices through healthy habits, regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and periodic health check-ups. They encouraged Curiosity by motivating participants to seek accurate medical information, ask questions, understand early warning signs, and dispel myths surrounding blood and breast cancer and cancer in general. Above all, they inspired participants to be courageous by stressing that timely screening, early diagnosis, and advances in treatment significantly improve survival rates and quality of life.

The seminar concluded with an engaging interactive session where participants sought expert guidance on cancer prevention, screening, and treatment. The programme successfully strengthened awareness, empowered informed decision-making, and encouraged every individual to adopt a proactive and responsible approach towards lifelong health and well-being.
