A self-defence workshop was conducted on January 21, 2020, by the Women Development Cell of the Institute of Commerce, Nirma University. WDC invited Mrs Anjana Nimavat, VU32TT, Chief-warden, and District commandant, Gujarat Civil Defence, Gandhinagar, Mr Uttkarsh Gupta, EDI, Officer Commanding Reserve Services and Civil Defence Instruction, Gandhinagar and Mr Vikas Kumar, Post-warden, Gujarat Civil Defence Gandhinagar to guide the female students of the Institute of Commerce, Nirma University.
In the workshop the participants learnt useful techniques such as keeping pepper-spray, calling Abhayam at 181 or registering at Police HEART (Help Emergency Alert Rescue Terminal). The participants were also sensitised about how to be safe while travelling in cabs, auto-rickshaw, and public transport systems.
