The competition, held nationwide, consisted of two rounds. The first, conducted online on January 6, 2024, was followed by the second round at Nirma University on January 24-25, 2024. The themes for the event were Taxation and Financial Analysis of unlisted companies. Teams, comprising four members each, with a minimum of two members from the Commerce/Management stream, participated. A total of 125 participants from nine different states across India attended, demonstrating their problem-solving skills in technology, taxation, and accountancy.
In the first round, 32 teams from across India presented their business models on one of the chosen themes. Ten teams, including four for taxation and six for financial analysis, qualified for the second round. In the second round, held on January 25, the teams executed their proposed business models by creating apps or websites. The judging panel, consisting of Mr. Dhwaneet Bhatt, Dr. S.S. Sodha, CA Sunil Sanghvi, and Mr. Vishvajit Songara, evaluated each team.
The Accathon’24 Prize and Certificate Distribution Ceremony took place on January 25, 2024, at the NIM Auditorium. Dignitaries, including ACCA Representative Mr. Prabhanshu Mittal, Indian Accounting Association Representative Dr. Harish Oza, and the competition judges, along with Dean & Director Dr. Udai Paliwal, faculty members, and students, were present. The ceremony commenced with Saraswati Vandana and the lighting of the lamp. Prof Udai Paliwal addressed the attendees, sharing his experience of organizing the event and highlighting ICNU’s ACCA accreditation.
Dignitaries expressed their experiences and insights. Dr Harish Oza spoke about the pillars of Accountancy – Society, Economics, Humans, and Ethics, emphasizing taxation as a cost of civilization. Mr Prabhanshu Mittal stressed the learning opportunities provided by Accathon, particularly in teamwork and technology. He emphasized the importance of embracing technology, citing examples of companies investing heavily in AI. Mr Dhwaneet Bhatt highlighted the synergy between Accounting and Technology, referring to them as a cockpit of ideas.
The event concluded with an enthralling dance performance by Natraj, the Dance Committee of ICNU, followed by the announcement of Accathon’24 results.
The winning team for the theme of taxation was HiFi Team from Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, Tamil Nadu. Tax Mavericks from Nirma University, Ahmedabad, secured the runner-up position for the theme of taxation. The winner for the theme of financial analysis of unlisted companies was Money Wisdom from Parul University, Vadodara, and the runner-up was Money Spectrum from Thakur College of Science and Commerce, Mumbai University.
Prof Gopika Juneja extended a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and participants for their active involvement in the Hackathon, marking the culmination of Accathon’24.
