The Induction Programme at the Institute of Commerce, Nirma University offered an inspiring and engaging start for the B.Com.(Hons), batch 2025–2029, filled with insightful sessions, interactive experiences, and valuable guidance.
Following the auspicious lamp-lighting ceremony, distinguished Chief Guest Dr. Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar (MD & Global CTO, AA21IT) set the tone with an impactful talk on innovation, savings-oriented sustainable economy, and entrepreneurial skills. Dr. Anup K. Singh, Director-General of Nirma University, warmly welcomed the incoming batch with an inspiring address. He offered profound insights on the themes of development and nation-building, inspiring both students and faculty alike. Dr. Udai Paliwal, Director of ICNU, followed with a thoughtful welcome to students and parents, sharing the institute’s vision and introducing the distinguished faculty members.
Throughout the first week, different sessions enriched the experience. Dr. Nityesh Bhatt spoke on self-management; CA Sunit Shah engaged the students with practical insights into the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). Dr. Chanakya Bhatt introduced NCC; Dr. Sapna Bhatt highlighted counselling services; Dr. Rajesh Patel discussed healthcare facilities, and Mr. Dharmendra Joshi encouraged students to “Define Their Peak.” Mr. Trilok Sharma, and Dr. Bhavesh Parekh further deepened the academic engagement through domain-specific discussions.
The final day of the week featured an NSS quiz, a fun induction quiz, a nutrition session by Dt. Komal Parekh (SGVP Hospital), and a hands-on CPR and emergency session by Dr. Saumil Sanghvi, wrapping up the week on a meaningful note.
The second week began with a ceremonial lamp-lighting, graced by the director, ICNU, Dr. Udai Paliwal, and a thought-provoking address by our chief guest, Shri Pradeep Ramakrishnan (Executive Director, IFSCA), who shared valuable insights on career opportunities for commerce graduates in the capital markets. This set the tone for a series of enriching sessions led by experts from diverse domains.
Among the highlights were engaging talks by CS Vasumati Vasudevan on career prospects in Company Secretaryship, CA Shardul Shah, who brought auditing to life with real-world relevance, and Mr. Yuvraj Jadhav, who guided students through the CFA pathway and the broader finance landscape. A deeply introspective session by Mr. Vivek Jiwan Swami Ji encouraged students to reflect on balance, mindfulness, and purpose.
Other guest speakers like Dr. Krishna Mehta outlined awareness about POSH, Dr. Sharmita Lahiri emphasized the transformative power of effective communication, Mr. Arjun Kukreja offered guidance on ACCA and global career opportunities, Dr. Sagar Dave explored the role of mindfulness in learning and well-being, and Dr CS Yashree Dixit conducted an engaging session on Intellectual Property Rights.
Our dedicated faculty and staff continued to offer consistent academic and developmental support throughout the two weeks. In addition to these sessions, students actively participated in workshops and activities including alumni interactions, interactive quizzes, and tech talks, thus fostering a culture of curiosity and confidence.
The sessions conducted over the two weeks provided a strong foundation not only for academic success but also for thoughtful and well-rounded professional and personal growth.
