As Navratri approached, the vibrant spirit of celebration swept through the halls of Nirma University, bringing with it an atmosphere of joy and festivity. In keeping with this spirit, Team Natraj – The Dance Club of Kalanidhi, the cultural committee of the Institute of Commerce, Nirma University (ICNU), orchestrated the eagerly anticipated “RAAS RANGILA – The Garba Workshop”. This lively event, designed specifically for the students of ICNU, particularly the freshers, took place at the sprawling Dome Ground, transforming it into a hub of cultural activity and celebration. There were several awards kept for the students to motivate them; like the best dancer and the best performer in both Male and Female
The success of the workshop was made possible through the unwavering support and guidance of Prof. Udai Paliwal, Director of ICNU, whose leadership set the foundation for the event. Alongside him, Dr. CS Karishma Butani, the dedicated Faculty Coordinator, played a key role in overseeing the event’s seamless execution. The student body was instrumental in leading the charge, with Khushi Tailor, the overall student coordinator, spearheading the efforts. She was supported by a stellar team of head coordinators, including
Sanika Thakkar, Kanan Jhurani, and Aditi Shinde, while Diviksha Gangwal and Sherlly Kothari served as sub-head coordinators, ensuring that every detail was meticulously handled.
The event commenced with a warm and heartfelt welcome extended to all the volunteers, participants, and attendees. From the very beginning, the energy was palpable. The volunteers kick-started the evening with a high-energy Garba performance that electrified the atmosphere, instantly setting the tone for what was to come. Their dynamic performance not only showcased the rich tradition of Garba but also served as an invitation for the audience to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of dance.
As the workshop progressed, the participants were guided through a variety of popular Garba moves. The traditional three-clap Garba, known as Teen Taali, and the rhythmic beats of Heech were taught with great enthusiasm. Adding a unique touch to the workshop, the team introduced a special Garba step that was crafted exclusively for ICNU students, making the experience even more personal and memorable for those in attendance.
The Winners for the night were;

BEST PERFORMER | DEV KAKKAD (SEM 5) | HETVI MEHTA (SEM 1) |
BEST DRESSED | DHIMANT AHIR (SEM 5) | KUNJAN ASHAR (SEM 1) |

The sight of students moving in harmony to the beats of Garba songs was a beautiful representation of the unity and cultural pride that Navratri embodies.
